How do I build a contract template?

Short answer

A contract template gives new contracts a starting structure. It does not replace a review of the actual deal.

Build the template

  1. Create a template and name it clearly.
  2. Add its sections and terms.
  3. Set the signing parties and order.
  4. Save and review the complete template.
  5. Test a draft contract before using it for a live agreement.

Check any starting values against the final negotiation. A template update is for future contracts; do not assume it rewrites an existing agreement.
